A high-flying student in Egypt was shocked to discover that she had spectacularly failed all seven of her exams without even scoring a single mark.
Mariam Malak had hoped to go to medical school and had previously scored near perfection in her exams in the past couple of years.
Now thousands of Egyptians have rallied behind the devastated student, with claims that she may have been the victim of corruption in the education system.
'I was completely shocked. I couldn't hear anyone, I couldn't speak. I thought how can that happen? How can I get zero?' Mariam told the BBC.
Her brother: 'Either the school or the examination board swapped her papers with another pupil who obviously wasn't doing as well'
Rumours started to circulate that Ms Malak may have been discriminated against because of her Coptic Christian faith.
However, her family suggest it is more likely that she was caught up in corruption within the Egyptian education system.
Hundreds of people have called for an investigation into the scores, suggesting that the marks were either a mistake or had been deliberately changed.
Her sister, Mina, said that her family could only pray that the issue is resolved.
'We believe in God's justice and the law and watching the support and solidarity we've been receiving from people gives us a bit of reassurance,' says Mina Malak.
'We want an impartial and transparent committee to re-open the investigation and redo her handwriting test... we will continue until we do justice by Mariam.'
Over 30,000 people have liked a social media page, titled 'I believe Mariam'. The page is filled with messages of support for the young student.
