Another defendant received a sentence of 10-years in prison, while 10 other defendants were sentenced to life in prison in absentia.

They were charged with killing a police officer, who was the security guard of Judge Hussien Qandil, who is adjudicating a case which former Islamist Mohamed Morsi was a defendant.

The convicted persons were arrested in Mansoura and possessed amounts of material used for making explosives.

The charges included establishing a “takfiri” group, and committing acts of violence against the army and the police, and killing Metwally.

The most recent set of executions took place last May, when six convicts in the ‘Arab Sharkas cell’ were executed by the Egyptian authorities for terrorism-related charges.
