After Egypt’s prime minster, Ibrahim Mahlab was reported to have promised to look into the case of Mariam Malak, an independent committee was formed to investigate the case.
Mariam Malak scored near-perfect marks in previous years, but got zero in all her exam papers.
Forensic Medicine in Assiut said a handwriting test showed Malak had written the zero-scoring exam papers. However, a second handwriting test, performed on an Egyptian TV talk show, revealed that the handwriting on the exam papers was markedly different.
Therefore, the attorney general opened a new investigation.
