Regretful Thoughts for September 11
America has almost a million negatives, when I look at it as a negative. I can even be so bold as to say, so does any other Western country. Americans are for the most part, money hungry, power hungry, capitalists. America is a consumer based society, where the thirst for power seems to be never satiated.

Having said that, however, there is one thing that we can see from looking at any Western country, and hope to achieve this one day, and this is devastation shock and the strength to rebuild. The events of 9/11 were horrendous. So tragic that hundreds lost their lives due to fanatics and their distorted actions. I’m ok with anyone believe in anything, but when it affects the people around you, then it’s time to reflect and adjust accordingly. The beliefs of these sick animals affected hundreds of people and changed their lives forever.
Even look to Canada and the terror attack on Parliament Hill, or France with the satirical cartoonist. These victims were living their lives normally.

What makes these countries different from the East, is their shock and reaction. Let me explain. In the East, LITERALLY people are dying every day at the hands of ISIS, Muslim Brotherhood, Daash, Al Shabab. EVERYDAY innocent victims are dying.

These tragic events out in the West happen once in a blue moon. 9/11 happened 14 years ago. Parliament Hill early back in the year. The amount of terror attacks can be counted using my fingers. Can we say the same about the East? No. Everyday something happens. Everyday an innocent victim dies.

Look at the huge efforts to increase security, put into force new procedures, take harsher action towards terrorism. The West has this idea, that the whole world needs to know about a few people dying, (or even a few hundred) How many days did CNN cover the cartoonist tragedy? Now look at the East, how long is one story focused on, before the next tragedy happens?

My point is, I think the West is lucky in this way. How lucky are they, that when something happens, the whole world knows about it? And tries to change themselves? Why can’t we say the same for Eastern countries?

How do we get to the point where it is a big deal, and change our ways to make sure tragedies do not happen again? How?

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of September 11 and their families. My thoughts also go out to all the victims that are missed due to the fact that they are in a crappy location, and their governments can’t help their situation.
