At the fourth anniversary of the "Maspero massacre", the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights condemned the absence of justice at investigations at the Massacre. Politicians and security officials were not investigated.
Several youth movements had called for a march in which thousands participated in protest of the demolition of St. George church in Marinab village, Aswan, as well as previous similar attacks on a number of churches. The march started at Shubra area, with slogans condemning attacking the churches.
Once they approached the national radio and television building at Maspero area, an Army unit fired live ammunition at the demonstrators. This was followed by some Armored Military Vehicles running over the demonstrators.
Over the past four years, the successive governments agreed to just ignore the matter, just like they ignored giving permits to build and restore churches, which was a basic demand by the martyrs of Maspero.
