Consecration of national unity in the October War

October War was not only a military victory against Israel, but also a consecration of national unity between Muslims and Christians. The war revealed sacrifice, love and ingenuity of the Egyptians.

This war integrated love of homeland and religion. This homeland cares indeed for all Egyptians no matter what their religion is. The list of the martyrs includes names of Coptic Christens as well as Muslims.

During the war, an Egyptian female farmer from Geneva village, near Ismailia, was helping the wounded soldiers and cut her clothes into bandages to stop their bleeding. This honorable woman didn’t care to lose her dress and be naked in order to help the bleeding soldiers. I bet she didn’t ask about the religion of those soldiers before she helps them.

Israel signed the peace treaty 45 years ago, but waged 8 wars ever since. It waged three wars against the Palestinians and two wars in Lebanon. It participated in a strike on Iraq and participated in the training of US forces in urban warfare upon the invasion of Baghdad. It also launched two raids on Sudan. If this happened under the peace treaty, what’s more should happen under war.

Wars inspired several works of arts, but the war of October consecrated the national unity and several stories about this war are yet to be told, and teach the new generations about.
