Sisi urges Egyptians to vote in 2015 Parliament elections

“I call on all Egyptians to gather for the home and for the martyrs to vote [….] to continue building the state’s institutions and anchor the democracy and the Social Justice,” Sisi said in a televised speech Saturday.
 
He called on all security and military forces to be on alert and “take all precautious measures for the electoral process.”
 
The parliament elections will be carried out on two phases; the total number of eligible voters in the first phase is estimated at 27 million people.
 
The first phase of the parliamentary elections is scheduled to kick off Sunday in 14 governorates; Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Asyut, the New Valley, Sohag, Qena , Luxor, Aswan, Red Sea, Alexandria, Beheira, and Marsa Matrouh.
 
The second phase is scheduled on Nov. 22 and 23 in the governorates of Cairo, Qalubia, Dakahlia, Menoufia, Gharbia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharqia, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai, and South Sinai.
 
Sisi’s remarks coincide with Egyptian expatriates’ voting in 139 embassies and consulates worldwide Saturday and Sunday.
 
Egypt’s House of Representatives will comprise of 596 members, with 448 to be elected as independents, 120 through the winner-take-all party lists system, with 28 seats to be appointed by the president, HEC said.
