A man was killed in confrontations with the police in Asyut Wednesday; he tried to escape once he saw security forces and began shooting, a security source told Youm7.
The police in Asyut, Upper Egypt, received intelligence reports that a man in Abnoub town has rented an apartment for over three months in the area although he is not originally from Abnoub.
After investigations and questioning locals, the police decided to raid his apartment, which ultimately led to his death at the hands of the officers.
Ammunition, a gun and a pistol were found in the man’s possession, while equipment for manufacturing explosives was found in his apartment, according to the source.
This is not the first time the Egyptian police have killed alleged militants in a private location reported to the police as a “hideout.”
