The leader of the Strong Egypt Party criticised the social and political situation in the country on Thursday, stressing his belief that the government’s intention is to bring an end to what it is left of the 25 January Revolution. According to a report in Almesryoon.com, Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh is hoping that the Egyptians will start a new “intifada”.
The ongoing situation in Egypt, he insisted, is aiming to prevent its independence and keep it under US guardianship. He claimed that America hates Arabs and Islam and the plot to overturn the fruits of the revolution is intended to keep the Arab countries and people enslaved by the US administration.
Speaking at a conference held in solidarity with the Palestinian intifada at the headquarters of the Journalists’ Syndicate, Aboul Fotouh reminded delegates that Palestine is a holy land. “We have to work towards its liberation,” he pointed out. “Israel is like a poisoned dagger in the back of the Arab nation.”
Egypt’s mistake, he said, is dealing with the Palestinian cause as an issue for Palestinians, not the Arabs and Muslims. “This besieges the Palestinians and deprives them of a wide range of financial, popular and official support.”
The former presidential candidate reiterated that the liberation of Palestine will come after the collective will of the Arabs and Egyptians has also been liberated. He expressed his hope that the people in Egypt will also start an intifada to achieve this. “The revolution in Egypt is ongoing,” he concluded, “and I have high hopes in Egyptian youth.”
