The South Giza Court has decided to renew the detention of businessman Salah Diab for 15 days, pending an investigation into charges of possessing unlicensed arms at his house in the Manial Shiha area.
Diab attended the court session on Tuesday with his two lawyers, Farid al-Dib and Mohamed Hammouda.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Cairo Criminal Court had adjourned the challenge filed against the seizure of Diab's assets to Wednesday.
Top prosecutor Nabil Sadeq had decided to seize Diab's funds, as well as some of his business partners', purportedly over charges of unlicensed arms possession and financial corruption.
Egyptian businessmen, as well as the media, have largely condemned his arrest.
Diab was arrested along with his son, Tawfik, the CEO of PICO International Petroleum, from their home in Giza on Sunday.
