Egypt’s Chief of Staff in France for military cooperation talks

Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazy arrived in France Wednesday along with a high-level delegation to discuss military cooperation amid a series of visits to several countries to enhance military ties, Youm7 reported.

Hegazy was in United Arab Emirates Nov. 7 to discuss bilateral military relations upon an invitation from UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

On Oct. 25, he traveled to Spain to hold “many fruitful discussions” on joint military relations, according to a statement by military spokesperson Mohamed Samir. On Oct. 20, he visited Jordan in an official visit to enhance security cooperation.

In September, Mahmoud Hegazy and his U.K counterpart Nicholas Houghton, Chief of Defense Staff for the UK Armed Forces met to discuss cooperation on counter-terrorism efforts and Libyan security turmoil, according to a Sept. 20 statement by U.K. ambassador to Egypt John Casson.

Also in September, Hegazy met with a delegation of the U.S. House of Representatives in September to discuss counter terrorism.
