Al-Nour appeals against Supreme Electoral Commission

Al-Nour Party’s assistant head of legal affairs, Talaat Marzouk, said he will appeal against the Supreme Electoral Commission’s (SEC) decision announcing the “For the love of Egypt” list as the winner of parliamentary elections in West Delta at the court of cassation.Al-Nour Party’s assistant head of legal affairs, Talaat Marzouk,  said he will appeal against the Supreme Electoral Commission’s (SEC) decision announcing  the “For the love of Egypt” list as the winner of parliamentary elections in West Delta at the court of cassation.

“The electoral process wasn’t held in accordance with the constitution, the law or the decisions of the SEC, in addition to being marred by many flaws and violations that lead to invalidity,” Marzouk said.

“The first of these violations is the negative propaganda by government and private media against Al-Nour Party. This was during the campaigning period, the electoral silence as well as the two days of elections,” he continued.

”All of this has been documented by the official monitoring committees, civil society organisations authorised to monitor the electoral process and the National Council for Human Rights, without any effective reaction by the SEC, as per the law.”

“Also, there were many electoral bribes and political funds, documented by voice recorders, photos, and official reports. The attitude of the SEC and the police to all this is considered a violation of the law,” he added.

The Al-Nour Party had announced in a statement that the legal committee of the party will submit an appeal against the “For the Love of Egypt” list in West Delta before the Administrative Court regarding the violations that occurred during elections.  The statement added that the party will list all the violations by “For the Love of Egypt” against the Al-Nour Party.

The statement pointed out that most of the party’s candidates have raised reports on the violations of the parliamentary elections to the public prosecution in their governorates.
