Nasserist political figure and former presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabbahi slammed Wednesday the new House of Representatives, saying “we are standing before a weak parliament does not represent state ‘s domestic policy, nor the people.”
“The atmosphere in which the parliamentary elections conducted is not appropriate at all,” he told Youm7.
He affirmed his full cooperation with the opposition inside the parliament to “make the people’s voice heard.”
Sabbahi’s remarks came after his visit to the French embassy in Cairo, offering his condolences for the victims of Paris attacks in which 129 persons were killed Friday evening.
He said that both Egypt and France are victims of terrorism, calling the whole world to unify to face it.
In previous statements in August, Sabbahi stated that the political atmosphere could lead a parliament without inspires of both January 25 Revolution and incidents of June 30.
Egypt parliament elections have been conducted on two phases; first round carried out in October in 14 governorates, while the second phase will be held on Nov. 22 and 23 inside Egypt and on on Nov. 21 and 22 for expatriates abroad.
Sabbahi had run for presidential elections twice; in 2012, he was rival against Mohamed Morsi and Ahmed Shafiq and he was in the third position after them. In 2014, he ran against President Adel Fatah al-SIsi.
