President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met with former Mali President and the AU High Representative for South Sudan Alpha Oumar Konaré Tuesday, discussing stability and security efforts for South Sudan, stated Egyptian Presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef Tuesday.
“Sisi reiterated Egypt’s position in support of the peace agreement in South Sudan. He stressed the importance of enhancing efforts aimed at achieving and building peace and enforcing security and stability in South Sudan in order to enable the environment for the realization of the aspired economic and social development and the fulfillment of the aspiration of the people of South Sudan for a better future,” Youssef said.
President Sisi asserted his country’s effort to support African and international endeavors to implement the peace agreement via its membership of the UN Security Council, Youssef added.
Konaré congratulated Sisi on the completion of the roadmap after conducting the parliamentary elections, Youssef continued.
