Cairo-Six drug barons have been arrested in North Sinai in a crackdown on crime rings and drug-producing areas , the police announced later Friday.
The police said they confiscated close to two tonnes of drugs and destroyed more than two million poppy trees since they had launched a massive operation in central Sinai on Thursday.
Troops also confiscated 57 farms used for drug cultivation, the police said, adding that they arrested six barons who are fugitives from justice.
