The Cairo Court of Cassation will consider Saturday the appeal presented by lawyer of former President Hosni Mubarak and his two sons against jail sentences handed to them earlier in a case publicly known as “presidential palaces,” Youm7 reported.
The court will either uphold the sentence or accept the appeal and set a date to start the retrial accordingly.
The defendants were accused of seizing public funds worth 125 million EGP ($16.38 million,) which had been allocated to the upkeep of the presidential residences between 2002 and 2011.
In May, Mubarak received a three-year rigorous imprisonment sentence and his sons, Alaa and Gamal, four-year sentence each. Both Mubarak and his sons appealed against the court ruling.
