Two people have been arrested for running 47 Facebook pages that “incite violence against state institutions,” according to a Wednesday police statement.
A Minya-based woman in Upper Egypt, identified as Kawthar, runs six pages and “admitted to belonging to the Brotherhood group,” as well as sharing posts that incite violence against state institutions. Her computer and cell phone were seized, according to the statement.
A Giza-based man identified as Mohamed “admitted” to operating 41 pages to spread the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood and to call for protests on the fourth anniversary of the January 25 Revolution. His computer was also seized.
The statement noted that the computers and the cell phone included “evidence” of their activities.
On Jan. 2, the Interior Ministry said it arrested three people over the same charges, adding they ran 23 Facebook pages.
