A 24-year-old was killed in Beni Suef in a gun battle with the police Monday as they attempted to raid his home, Youm7 reported.
Mohamed Hamdan, allegedly the leader of a “terrorist cell” that targets policemen in the Upper Egyptian governorate, was wanted in several related cases, according to Youm7.
A police unit surrounded Hamdan’s home in Bani Suleiman village, where he reportedly initiated fire. The police found a machine gun with him, Youm7 reported.
Meanwhile in Sharqia, the Delta, a 20-year-old student was arrested in 17 cases in which he is wanted, including assassinations of policemen, bombings and arson.
Also on Monday, the police killed two people inside an apartment in 6th of October city on the outskirts of Cairo; they had allegedly been implicated in a Jan. 21 blast that killed 10, mostly policemen, Youm7 reported.
