Secular Egyptian Party denounced the appeal of the Coptic Orthodox Church over the rule in favor of civil marriage, adding that such appeal contradicts with former remarks of the church.
It added that such interference represents a serious violation of Article 16 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and all international commitments of Egypt.
The party invited the Egyptian state to care for all Egyptians without tutelage from any religious institutions.
