A national security policeman was shot dead Thursday by unidentified assailants in his car in Upper Egypt’s governorate of Beni Suef, reported Youm7.
The attackers reportedly opened fire on Abdullah Ismail, a 48-yr policeman who was driving his car on Cairo-Aswan Agricultural road along with his friend Mohamed Ibrahim, who was not harmed.
Ismail was announced dead immediately from a shot to his chest; his body was taken to a hospital in his home town of Beni Suef.

Beni Suef has seen a similar incident on Jan. 5 when unidentified gunmen on motorbike shot dead a low-ranking police officer, who was reportedly on his way home from work, and injured a passerby in his shoulder.
Over the past years, in which Egypt has been fighting a rising militancy, especially in North Sinai, hundreds of police personnel along with army soldiers have been killed in a series of attacks have escalated since the 2013 ouster of President Mohamed Morsi.
A total of 138 policemen were killed in “terrorist attacks” in 2015, according to the Interior Ministry.
