An exhibition, featuring ancient Egyptian artifacts from gallery collections around the UK, has kicked off Saturday at the Two Temple Place in central London.
The “Beyond Beauty: Transforming the Body in Ancient Egypt,” exhibition, which will last until April 24, was inaugurated by Egypt’s Ambassador in London Nasser Kamel.
“It coincides with a program of cultural events for both children and adults including Egyptian folkloric storytelling, lectures, traditional Egyptian music and craft workshops,” Kamel was quoted by the state news agency MENA Thursday.
Organized by the Egyptian Embassy in London and a British charitable organization, the exhibition showcases a group of Egyptian antiquities from seven different museums from around England.
Exquisite painted coffins, decorated funerary masks, figurines and beautifully carved reliefs, jewelry, mirrors, hairpins, scented bottles and make up sets are among other artifacts spanning over four millennia in display, according to the exhibition’s press release Thursday.
