Egyptian armed forces started rebuilding the church of St. George in El-Arish. This comes after President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi promised to restore all churches demolished in the attacks of the Muslim Brotherhood by the end of 2016.
Father Raphael Moussa, priest of St. George Church in El-Arish, said the armed forces had to pull down the rest of the building before restoration starts since the fire completely destroyed it.
He added that he wishes the church of the holy family in Rafah is included in the restoration plan as well after it was bombed twice in 2011. It’s part of the evacuation area, but he hopes that another land will be dedicated to the church instead.
