Egypt's doctors' syndicate sent a letter to the interior ministry Monday notifying officials of nationwide standing protests that will take place at hospitals on Saturday, 20 February.
The standing protests will decry the repeated assaults on doctors, according the syndicate's official website.
"Kindly take the necessary measures to secure the standing protests," the notification letter read.
The decision is part of a set of measures the syndicate's emergency general assembly voted for last Friday.
The assembly was held in response to the case of nine policemen accused of assaulting doctors at Matariya Hospital on 28 January.
The doctors decided to provide medical service to citizens for free in public hospitals starting 26 Februrary until the policemen are referred to court.
Before the assembly, Cairo's prosecution charged the policemen of assault and use of violence, but they were released after 24 hours of detainment.
