Egypt's Sisi arrives in Japan, second stop on Asian tour

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi arrived in Japanese capital Tokyo on Sunday, marking the second stop on his tour in Asia and the first visit by an Egyptian president to Japan since 1999.

During his three-day visit to Japan, the Egyptian president is set to meet with Japanese Emperor Akihito and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to discuss several political and economic issues, according to Egyptian state news agency MENA.

Sisi will deliver a speech before the Japanese parliament on Monday and will inaugurate the Egyptian-Japanese Economic Forum to discuss investment opportunities.

Sisi kicked off his Asian tour with a two-day visit to Khazakhstan and will set off to South Korea after his stop in Tokyo.

During his visit to Kazakhstan, Sisi met with President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Prime Minister Karim Massimov, discussing bilateral relations with them.

Sisi and his Kazkh counter-part agreed on Egypt's participation in EXPO 2017 exhibition on sustainable energy, which will be held in Kazakhstan.

The duo also agreed that Egypt will participate in the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) which is part of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. IOFS was an initiative proposed by Kazakhstan in October 2012.
