6 Egyptians on Forbes list of world’s richest, Nassef Sawiris on top

Egyptian business tycoon Nassef Sawiris is the wealthiest person in Egypt, ranking 421 among the world’s richest with $4.2 billion, according to a Thursday report by Forbes.

Six Egyptians were in the list of the wealthiest people globally; Sawiris’ older brother Naguib Sawiris ranked second in Egypt with $3 billion.
 
The Sawiris were followed by business magnate Mohamed Mansour with $2.5 billion. He is the owner of a number of top Egyptian companies, including Metro, a large supermarket chain, and part owner of Mansour Group.
 
Egyptian U.K.-based Mohamed al-Fayed comes next with $1.9 billion, then businessman Youssef Mansour, older brother of Mohamed Mansour, with $1.7 billion and finally their youngest brother Yassin Mansour with $1.4 billion.
 
Onsi Sawiris, the father of Nassef and Naguib, and the youngest brother Samih Sawiris are also among Egypt’s billionaires.
 
The Sawiris, Mansour and al-Fayed families have long been of Egypt’s wealthiest and most influential families.
