NCW program aims to train women entrepreneurs across Egypt

The National Council for Women (NCW) has announced a new training program to raise women's skills in the field of social entrepreneurship and small-sized enterprises.

The program, which targets women from all age groups, has been implemented in three governorates so far, but they the NCW plans to expand it to all governorates in time.

"The program will be implemented in all governorates and will be a positive step toward the empowerment of women financially and on the professional level in light of the high rates of unemployment and poor skills," said Chairman of the NCW Maya Morsy in a statement on Saturday.

The program includes a definition of the concept of entrepreneurship and small businesses, and will train participants on market analysis skills and the efficient use of human and material resources, according to Morsy.

The program also includes training on risk assessment and management, the leagl procedures needed to create private companies and cooperatives, a feasibility study for small businesses, the rules of financing entities and lenders, as well as means of exploiting natural resources in the different local communities and marketing their products in their communities or villages.

The trainees will be divided into groups to create realistic business models by the end of the course, said Morsy.

It is hoped that more than 2,000 women will benefit from the project through 54 training courses in various governorates.

Morsy said the program has been implemented so far in the provinces of Beni Suef, Giza and Alexandria, and that work is underway to implement it in the rest of Egypt by the end of May.
