Now, the Egyptian media has spoken out on their conspiracy claims on the case.

According to Israel National News, the Egyptian legislators and media personnel are claiming that Muslim Brotherhood is bribing members of the European Union Parliament to make them focus their actions against Egypt officials and authorities. Major General Hamdy Bekheet has said in a statement that "The Muslim Brotherhood pays all these people in Europe ... they have influence over all these people."

His statement roots from the incident of the 28-year-old Italian graduate student Regeni whom the European officials suspect the Egyptian authorities were behind the brutal killing. The EU Parliament said the case is not isolated, but it occurred in the context of torture, death in custody, and enforced disappearances across Egypt in the recent years.

The media was quick to react regarding these kind of statements against their hometown as Alarabiya reported that in Al Ahram newspaper's Sunday edition, the headline depicts there is a bribing that took place. The headline reads "The European Parliament has fallen in the trap of the international organization of the Muslim Brotherhood", insinuating that the media jumped to provide protection for the Egypt's sake.

Also, Ahmed Moussa, the country's most popular talk show host, stated on Saturday that the Italian embassy may be covering up crucial evidence that would make the Regeni's case more about personal dispute. According to Salon, he said that Sada el-Balad channel has captured a footage wherein the Italian man is having a quarrel with Regeni prior to his disappearance. He asked the ambassador of Italy in Cairo to release any information he has.

They added that the Europe only talks on issues that may topple the current Egypt regime. Meanwhile, Italian officials have repeatedly complained of a lack of transparency in Cario regarding the case. They claimed the Italian embassy on Cario received documents but it was lacking and only part of the documents requested.
