French Construction Company Vinci has won an international tender to establish the third phase of third line of Cairo metro, said Minister of Transport Saad al-Geuishi told Youm7 Sunday.
Per the terms of the tender, the third phase is 18.8 kilometers in length with 15 metro stations, stretching from Attaba to Bulaq al-Dakror. The cost of construction is worth 9 billion EGP (around $1 billion), he noted.
Egyptian National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) has offered the tunnel in 2014; Vinci and Spanish Obrascón Huarte Lain (OHL) were competing for the tender, the Minister continued.
The first two phases of the third line have operated with a length of 4.3 km (5 stations) and a length of 7.7 km (four stations), respectively.
The planned fourth phase of the third line will establish a total of 39 metro stations, according to the NAT official website.
