NIGER - An out-of-sorts Egypt side fell behind to a stunning Niger goal in their Sunday's African Cup of Nations qualifier match. Egypt slumps to last place in the group after a draw and a loss in its opening two qualifying matches.
Niger right-back Amadou Kader gave his side an unlikely lead in the 34th minute after making the most of a dreadful blunder from Egypt's makeshift left-back Mohamed Abdul-Shafi.
Abdul-Shafi, deputizing for the injured Sayed Moawad, was the last Egyptian defender when he dithered over clearing the ball.
The onrushing Kader outpaced him and gathered the ball to break clear and beat Essam Al-Hadari at the near post with a precise shot.
Sierra Leone held Group G leader South Africa to a 0-0 draw. The draw sees South Africa maintain top spot in Group G with four points, one point ahead of Niger which shocked African champion Egypt 1-0 earlier Sunday.
Sierra Leone is third with two points from two draws, while Egypt slumps to last place in the group after a draw and a loss in its opening two qualifying matches for the 2012 African Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
