In February Egypt saw a 45.9% decrease in tourists compared to February of 2015, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported Monday.
A total of 346,500 holiday makers came to Egypt in February 2016, compared to 640,200 in Februar 2015, the organization stated.
Tourism has been reeling in Egypt since the January 2011 Revolution in general, but has been especially hard-hit since a Russian plane crashed in Sharm al-Sheikh in October 2015, 23 minutes after taking off.
Swift decisions were taken by a number of countries including Germany, Russia, France and the UK to evacuate their tourists from the resort town, after reports that a bomb may have been the cause.
