Handicapped students are now exempt from payingCairo University fees, head of the college Gaber Nassar announced Tuesday at an open meeting with students with disabilities, according to Youm7.
The university will also pay for the students’ dormitory fees as of Tuesday, Nassar said.
A number of handicapped students had complained they cannot afford the fees, according to Youm7.
About 800 handicapped students are enrolled at Cairo University, media advisor to the university Fathy Abbas told reporters Monday.
Nassar also decided to provide each handicapped student with two tickets to attend any concert organized by the university to be accompanied by a friend or family member.
