The House of Representatives is convened Sunday to resume a debate on the government’s policy statement proposed last month, ahead of vote of confidence scheduled for Wednesday, Youm7 reported.
The parliament began plenary session Sunday morning while another session will take place later to review a report about the program prepared by a 50-member committee, parliament speaker Ali Abdel Aal was quoted by Youm7.
He added that “the parliament began reviewing the program Saturday and will convene several times during the next few days for the same purpose before Prime Minister Ismail will come to parliament Wednesday to respond to MPs’ comments on his government’s policy statement,” which was delivered before the parliament March 27.
The report features a critical review of the government’s program and recommends that it should be implemented “under constant review of parliament,” said Abdel Aal, adding that the report urges the government to “minimize public spending rather than cutting subsidies.”
