Boko Haram fighters on Monday attacked Nigerian soldiers in the northeast of the country, where the jihadists have been waging a seven-year insurgency, the army said.
“Boko Haram terrorists attack troops of 113 Battalion,” army spokesman Sani Usman said in a brief statement. “The troops have been battling the insurgents since (the) early hours of today.”
No further details were immediately available from the remote area in Kareto where the clashes occurred.
