A man was arrested while distributing publications “inciting violence against the state” and calling for protests over the Saudi acquisition of two Red Sea islands, a security source told Youm7 Tuesday.
The man, identified as Samir F., was arrested in Mokattan, Cairo, with publications that bear slogans of April 6 Youth Movement, Strong Egypt Party and the Revolutionary Socialists.
Samir F. was previously charged in a 2014 case for protesting outside Ittihadiya presidential palace and was released in 2015.
A large protest was staged outside the Journalists’ Syndicate in Cairo to demand that Egypt maintains control over Tiran and Sanafir islands. A total of 25 protesters are still detained over the demonstration.
