Sisi, US congressional delegation talk counter-terrorism efforts

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will meet with a visiting Congressional delegation on Tuesday to discuss counter-terrorism issues and continued military relations between the two countries, the U.S. embassy in Cairo said in a statement Monday.

The delegation is headed by Congressman Michael McCaul, Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, which has oversight of the Department of Homeland Security ensuring it is able to carry out its core mission of protecting the American people from terrorist attacks, according to the statement.

The delegation, which arrived in Cairo Monday, is scheduled to meet with senior Egyptian officials to discuss counterterrorism efforts, the U.S.-Egyptian partnership, and shared interests in regional security and stability.

The U.S. government provides an annual $1.3 billion in military aid and $150 million in economic aid to Egypt.
