Sisi invited to attend 2016 Arab Summit in Mauritania
President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Sunday an invitation to attend the 2016 Arab Summit that is scheduled to convene in Mauritania, the Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Alaa Youssef announced in a statement.

Mauritanian Justice Minister and the special presidential envoy Brahim Ould Daddah has delivered the first invitation of the summit to President Sisi, said Youssef, noting that both sides discussed bilateral relations.

In February, the Arab League announced that Mauritania will host the African Summit due to be held July 25-26 after Morocco announced its withdrawal to host the summit. In February Reuters reported that the Moroccan Foreign Ministry said in statement that the summit would be like an ordinary occasion “to pronounce speeches that give a false impression of unity.”

In early April, Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, paid Egypt a two-day visit during which both countries signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and agreements in fields of maritime, housing, culture, livestock, health, and petroleum.
