Armenians in Egypt concerned over increasing number of intermarriages

The Armenian community of Egypt is facing a number of problems.
“Armenians have lived in Egypt since the 11th century, their number reaching 5000 by now,” community representative Suren Bayramian said in Yerevan, when gifting historical maps and books to the National Library of Armenia.

Presently, the Armenian community is deeply concerned by the decreasing number of students in Armenian schools and the increasing number of intermarriages.

Egyptian authorities discuss a possibility of merging Galustian and Nubarian Armenian gymnasia.
