Boxing is religiously prohibited: Egypt’s Mufti
Egypt’s grand Mufti Shawqi Allam said that one can learn combat sport and be trained to practice it in a harmless way, but it is “religiously forbidden” to seek professionalism in a way that harm and bring severe disability to one another, reported Youm7.
Allam’s statement was in response to a question about Muslims participation in sports in which wrestlers try to overcome each others, by wounding in head and body.
He also noted that an old religious edict issued by the Islamic Jurisprudence Complex in 1987 stated that boxing is “religiously prohibited.” The reasoning of the edict stated that boxing is based on allowing “serious harm to both fighters that could mount to blindness, severe or chronic damage of brain, fractions or death,” and that the beater is not blamed for this. Furthermore, the edict said that the audience cheers in happiness for the victor not caring for the beaten fighter’s harm.
“This act is totally forbidden and unacceptable in the rule of Islam,” read the edict.

Illicit Gain to investigate land takeover by former officials
Illicit Gains Authority will start investigating incidents of land takeover that date back to 2005, in which former state officials and businessmen are accused of illegally seizing wide swaths of state-owned lands, judicial sources told Youm7.
The sources added that the former officials tended to make profit of the seize lands by renting them to companies or establishing projects on them.
The authority was notified about the incidents by a committee tasked by the President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to recover looted state land.
2 high school students arrested for cheating via earphones in Minya
Two high school students in Upper Egypt’s Minya were arrested while taking their exam for cheating through earphones.
The detained students, both aged 18yrs, said during investigations that they linked the earphones to a website called “Cheating Revolution” that live broadcast the answers of the exam questions 15 minutes after the test began.
Over the past weeks, Thanaweya Amma (high school diploma) exams have been leaked on different facebook pages, and a number of students have been detained over allegedly administrating these pages.
Sentry shot dead in North Sinai
A sentry was killed after unknown people shot at him in Arish city in North Sinai, said a statement by the Ministry of Interior. His body was taken to Arish hospital.
A police hunt was launched to arrest the perpetrators, added the statement.
