Huge shipment of banned painkiller Tramadol seized in Ain Sokhna harbor
The Egyptian Customs Authority and Al-Ain al-Sokhna investigations department, affiliated to the general department for Suez Canal security, has confiscated a huge shipment of Tramadol, a potent painkiller banned from import or use in Egypt.

The shipment, coming from India, was foiled on Saturday. It contained 50 million pills.

Suez harbors investigation department chief, Mohamed al-Qaffas, was notified that an imports and exports company in Daqahliya was planning to smuggle the shipment into the country.

Based on the information, there were instructions to check all incoming containers entering the harbor.

In an inspection of a shipment that had come from India, two containers were found to be containing boxes of Tramadol.

A police report was filed and efforts are now being made to arrest those responsible for the shipment.
