We all know GMT or Greenwich Mean Time!
GMT is not observed in any location this year. Locations that used to be on GMT for part or all of the year are now on CEST instead.
Europe: Only some locations are currently on GMT because most places in this time zone are currently on summer time / daylight saving time and are observing IST or BST.
Well again and again what is CEST oh yes it is the abbreviation of Central Europe Summer Time!
Hey, what is this Summer Time now?
A simple search on the Internet said the following:-
British Summer Time (BST) starts on the last Sunday in March and ends on the last Sunday in October, at 1.00 am Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
Clocks were set forward on Sunday, 27 March 2016.
Clocks will be set back on Sunday, 30 October 2016.
Is that all? No way here is way more... “Daylight Saving Time aka Daylight Savings Time, DST or Summer Time. Clocks go forward 1 hour in the spring and back in the fall to make better use of natural...”
In brief Daylight Saving Time is a saving way or means to save natural resources when sunset in Paris is way beyond 9pm this means I do not have to use lights or electricity before 9pm or 10 even 11epm in the longest day of the year!
Well in Europe they do not have the High Dam and electricity generated by this dam neither water falls and to generate Electricity they need to run generators consuming coal that needs to be collected from coal mines a very expensive iteration and time consuming or at best chances generators using petroleum or its products that are still not cheap!
Well with the technology and its innovations even the wind can be used to generate electricity which is so vital in our daily life, but mean time we try to bring down the expenses as this is the main role of any entity controlling resources, they need to make them available at least costs!
This lengthy introduction was necessary to understand what is “Summer Daylight Saving” but going back few years in Egypt precisely 2005 the month of Ramadan was in October and we all know the Julian Calendar is 365 to 366 day but Islamic months vary between 29 to 30 days meaning Islamic years are shorter by at least 11 days that is to have Ramadan again in October will take about 50 years or otherwise stating Ramadan remains in Spring and Summer times for the next 25 years at least and as we all know Ramadan means fasting and fasting is no food no drinks! Obviously fasting summer time is way more difficult specially when you start fasting maximum time and as you go it gets shorter and shorter the reverse happens when you start fasting winter time going to spring you start gradually going to longer and longer periods of fasting like taking it gradually, similar to training on fasting! This is totally the opposite when you have to fast in August going to September, at that time some narrow minded people asked to cancel the Summer time saving way because they can eat at 7pm rather 8pm totally understandable but why “Narrow Minded”? Well the simple fact is fast starts at Sun Rise and ends with Sun Set regardless to the time! I can call Sun Rise 5-6-7 or even 8 same with Sun Set can be called 4-5-6 or 7 BUT I CAN NOT FOCE THE SUN TO RISE BEFORE OR AFTER TIME!
When at the beginning of Ramadan and days before it starts a National TV promotes power saving as our national consumption exceeds 72 milliards and rising up yearly giving people ideas on how to save in the use of power and electricity and start thinking of ways to execute that then days before Ramadan ends news tells us the pre-Ramadan decision of the PM to implement Summer Daylight Saving right after Ramadan had been cancelled I feel LOST!
When parliament members decide to discuss the permanent cancellation of Sumer daylight saving I feel Egyptians have paranoia!
Only a paranoid parliament would discuss such a thing when the government complains that such a decision would cause a heavy overhead Egypt's treasury that can not be afford it now!
I rest my case as I can not find more excuses to iterate those news, but I'm confident as usual in God's blessings to Egypt and Egyptians may he keep blessing them forever and his peace be upon you ALL!
