Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark See, formed a committee to study the recognition of Wadi Rayan monastery.
This came after Abba Makarios, Bishop of Minya and the supervisor of the monastery, had asked the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church to study such decision.
