Two Egyptian policemen killed by roadside bomb in North Sinai: Interior ministry
A roadside bomb killed two Egyptian policemen on Tuesday in North Sinai, according to the interior ministry.
Two other police personnel and a conscript were wounded in the bombing that hit a passing police patrol in the provincial capital of Al-Arish, the ministry added in a statement.

Egyptian troops have waged an extensive campaign dubbed "The Right of the Martyr" since late 2015 to crush militancy in the North Sinai region, saying it has killed hundreds of fighters who had launched attacks against the state and security forces.

Last month, the army said its ground, air and naval forces had killed 22 militants in parts of North Sinai as part of the ongoing counter-terrorism operation.

On Monday, a roadside bombing in North Sinai also killed two policemen.

On 30 June, an Egyptian Coptic priest was shot dead in North Sinai that was claimed by the Islamic State group's Egyptian affiliate.

In May, Egypt received the first batch of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles from the United States, which the US embassy in Cairo said at the time would be used to combat terrorism.
