Minya Prosecution on Wednesday has ordered the detention of eight suspects for four days pending investigations over the recent sectarian violence incidents that took place in the Upper Egyptian governorate, Youm7 reported.
On Sunday, families of two priests from Minya were assaulted by an angry mob in Tahna El-Jabal village, leaving one dead and three injured, Youm7 reported citing a statement from Archbishop Makarious of Minya.
The clergyman has not explained the reasons behind the assault. However, media reports suggest the clashes erupted following an argument between Muslim and Christian children over priority to pass through the street.
