A reshuffle of Egyptian provincial governors is expected to take place on Friday, informed sources told Al-Ahram Arabic newspaper, adding that the prime minister had conducted interviews with the candidates.
Prime Minister Sherif Ismail has finalised the candidate list with Minister of Local and Administrative Development Ahmed Zaki Badr after conducting several interviews and meetings.
Changes are expected to take place in the governorates of Alexandria, Suez, and Fayoum.
A new governor is also expected to be announced for the capital, Cairo, which has been headed by a charge d'affaires since March after former governor Galal El-Said was sworn-in as transportation minister.
The lacklustre performance of some of the governors as well as their inability to deal with emergencies is the reason behind replacing them, the sources added.
Ismail has presented the list of governors to President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi for his consideration.
