House of Representatives’ Religious Committee has received a draft law, proposed by over 60 MPs, to organize the building and renovation of churches in Egypt, said the committee’s Chairman Osama Al-Abd on Sunday.
He added that the committee considers the law to come in line with the vision of moderate Islam, saying that it is not logic to adopt religious freedom, while preventing the others from building worship places.
The churches building and renovation law raised a state of controversy among the Egyptian people, as many experts believe that the absence of such law is one of the major reasons for the sectarian incidents witnessed in the country during the recent years.
