Egypt’s Muslim Senior Scholars Unanimously rejected Tuesday the written sermons idea during its meeting headed by Azhar’s Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Youm7 reported.
The Islamic committee, headed by Azhar's Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb, refused the proposal to force the preachers just to read written sermons, as such idea could suspend the religious speech.
The committee said, in a statement, that the written sermons would undermine the clerics’ ability to discuss the extremist ideas promoted by the terrorist groups.
Egypt’s Endowment Ministry proposed to force the Muslim clerics to read a unified sermons during Friday prayers in an attempt to ensure their commitment to the moderate Islamic teaching during the coming period.
