Azhar’s Grand Imam Ahmed Al Tayeb ordered the leaders of his Islamic institution not to participate in the current controversy over the written sermons, Youm7 reported on Wednesday.
The orders of Egypt’s top cleric come in the aftermath of decision taken by Muslim Senior Scholars to reject the proposal adopted by the Endowment Ministry to force preachers to read the sermons during Friday prayers.
Azhar’s Secretary Abbas Shoman revealed that the grand imam’s instructions came not to allow critics drive a wedge between the Muslim scholars in this regard.
