Egypt’s Minister of Endowment Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa was keen to perform Friday Prayers from Al-Sayeda Nafisa Mosque to hear the written sermon, Youm7 reported.
The decision to implement the written sermon is considered by many experts as defiant step from the Egyptian government against the major Islamic institution in the Sunni world, as Azhar’s Muslim Senior Scholars refused the governmental decision describing it as suspension of religious discourse.
According to sources, endowment minister held a meeting with the ministry’s senior officials on Thursday to discuss the way to generalize the written sermons ideal in all over the country, stressing that it is the only way to control and develop the religious discourse
