Egypt’s former Mufti has deep relations with fathallah gülen’s group accused of standing behind the failure coup against Turkish President Ragab Tayeb Erdogan last month, said Chairman of Turkey’s Religious Affairs Mohamed Gormaz.
The Turkish religious leader said, in a statement to Huffington Post News, that he contacted with Gomaa during the dispersal of Rabaa sit-in, urging the Egyptian scholars to perform their role to contain the matter.
“After 15 minutes of the phone call,” said Gormaz, “I received a another call from the second man of gülen’s group, Mustafa Ozgan, who told him of the details of my call with Gomaa.”
The statements came hours before the failure attempt to assassinate the Egyptian former Mufti on Friday.
