Education minister sued over deliberately removing all references to Mubarak era

A lawsuit was filed to Egypt’s Attorney General Nabil Sadek against  Education Minister accusing him of “rigging” the Egyptian history after all references to the era of Egypt’s former President Hosni Mubarak were reportedly removed from history textbooks, Youm7 reported Tuesday.

“ Deleting a part of the Egyptian history from the curriculum is a criminal offense in the right of millions of Egyptian people, and represents, according to the Egyptian law, fraud crime that is punishable with imprisonment and dismissal from public post,” Youm7 quoted Lawyer Azab Makhlof.

Makhlouf also filed a lawsuit against the chairman of the ministry’s curriculum development sector accusing him of involvement in removing the events that took place during Mubarak’s 30-year tenure from history books for elementary and junior high schools.
